A Middleton firm that has developed a heart monitoring device that's designed to replace the one currently in use by surgeons said Friday it has begun clinical studies at three hospitals.

MADISON – Federal agencies that are among the biggest buyers of outside research and development will be represented at the fourth annual “Resource Rendezvous.”

The event, produced by the Wisconsin Security Research Consortium, the Wisconsin Technology Council and the UW-Madison College of Engineering, will be held 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11 at the UW-Madison College of Engineering, 1415 Engineering Drive.

MADISON- Two University of Wisconsin-Madison student-built snowmobiles swept the 2010 SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge, winning both competition divisions: the National Science Foundation Award for the best sled in the zero-emissions division and the International Snowmobile Manufacturers Association Award for first place in the internal-combustion division.

Please join us to hear from representatives of major federal agencies with research and development programs, especially around defense, homeland security and energy. More details will be announced in coming months, including a line-up of speakers and presenters.


WSRC director attends defense-related event in New Orleans

Jack Heinemann, director of the Wisconsin Security Research Consortium, attended the U.S. Marine Corps Expeditionary Power & Energy Symposium in New Orleans in late January. The symposium is one of the largest defense-related R&D events in the United States. The WSRC attends national events that strengthen Wisconsin's ties to federal agencies with research and development needs. These include other defense-related agencies, such as the Office of Naval Research, as well as the Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Army Medical Command and major defense integrators.
