A Middleton firm that has developed a heart monitoring device that's designed to replace the one currently in use by surgeons said Friday it has begun clinical studies at three hospitals.

MADISON – Federal agencies that are among the biggest buyers of outside research and development will be represented at the fourth annual “Resource Rendezvous.”

The event, produced by the Wisconsin Security Research Consortium, the Wisconsin Technology Council and the UW-Madison College of Engineering, will be held 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11 at the UW-Madison College of Engineering, 1415 Engineering Drive.

Jack Heinemann, director of the Wisconsin Security Research Consortium, attended the U.S. Marine Corps Expeditionary Power & Energy Symposium in New Orleans in late January. The symposium is one of the largest defense-related R&D events in the United States. Please contact Heinemann at 608-442-7557 ext. 25 to learn more about opportunities in alternative power, water and shelter technologies.

The WSRC attends national events that strengthen Wisconsin's ties to federal agencies with research and development needs. These include other defense-related agencies, such as the Office of Naval Research, as well as the Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Army Medical Command and major defense integrators.
